Prickly Pear Cactus is very popular cactus that is found in almost all parts of the world form United States, South America, Africa and Australia. This cactus is characterized by its flat oval green colored pads that look like leaves. It's spines are very sharp to the touch and care is needed when handling out of the capsule. A fun fact to know is that it's pads can be eaten, discovered a long time ago by natives, and yet today food products such as jam is made from it!
This cactus have the longest capsule life of all the cactus and succulent plants. The segments grown from her base can be broken off if overgrown, and in time new growth segments will sprout from the base.
