Hens 'n' Chicks is a evergreen perennial succulent with beautiful rosette shaped leaves. The tips of their leaves have the ability to change color to purplish with maturity and age and can grow up to 6 inches tall, 20 inches wide. They spread by producing little baby plant offsets next to the mother, and is also nicknamed Hens and Chicks from the appearance when they are next to each other.
Rich in history, this succulent was a commonly planted on rooftops in Europe and Scandanavia to prevent fires by lightning due to its high water holding capacity of its leaves. This succulent is a hardy, drought tolerant plant and could survive most weather conditions. New leaves are produced from the inner core while older leaves are shed on the outer.
